With the temperature finally feeling a bit more like North Carolina today rather than the frozen tundra, we couldn’t help but share a peek into Megan and Blaine’s downtown Raleigh tropical wedding back on a warm September day at the Merrimon-Wynne House. I (Jessica) had the pleasure of coordinating for this awesome couple, and loved the common thread that me and Megan shared: we are from South Florida! So when she told me she wanted to incorporate palms and a bit of Floridian flare, I was pumped! Megan and Blaine are super laid back and fun, and their wedding totally encompassed that vibe, and then some!
Before telling the story of how the day unfolded, let’s swoon over some of the fun details and set the stage for this amazing day…
E.W. of Bloom Works (a division of Catering Works) brought Megan’s tropical vision to life with all the vibrant greens; it looks so elegant against the champagne and white neutrals!
Now let’s begin this love story with the preparations of the bridal party. First we have to address Megan’s showstopper of a dress (designer is Marchesa). It was so unique and sexy, I honestly have never seen anything like it; it definitely embodied a South Florida flare if you ask me! And we are very much in agreement with mismatched bridesmaids dresses, and her girls pulled it off flawlessly! And we can’t forget the groomsmen, how dapper do they look?!
The weather on September 9th was impeccable; the high was 75 and the sun was shining, setting up the perfect backdrop for an outdoor ceremony on the lawn. At 5:30, we began the processional, and I love seeing the look of giddy anticipation on Blaine’s face as he waited for Megan to walk down the aisle to become his wife. Megan’s brother, Brian, had the honor of walking his sister down the aisle, and he was more nervous than she was! It was so sweet. After some heartfelt “I do’s” and sealing it with a kiss, these two were now Mr. and Mrs. Mahood!
Now let’s look at some more images of this gorgeous bridal party, that was almost too large to fit onto one porch! And the girls lush bouquets were simply stunning.
After the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktail hour both on the lawn and inside the main house with appetizers provided by Dononvan’s Dish. Megan had the idea of having some of the bistro tables accented with ghost chairs, it looked stellar and provided some additional seating, which is always a plus. It was a perfect early evening to enjoy some drinks under the market lights and play some cornhole while watching the sun set.
After a stellar dinner service (station style) it was time for the fun to begin! But before guests could cut loose on the dance floor, the newlyweds headed into the main house to cut their cake. After taking a few yummy bites it was time to head back into the Carriage House and shake and shimmy with entertainment by The Band Punch. After a few hours it was time to send Megan and Blaine off into their next chapter of married life, done by way of a glow stick exit.
Megan and Blaine, it was an honor to work alongside you two and to witness the first chapter of your married life! Your wedding day was perfect and it was such a joy to be a part of it alongside your family and friends. I wish you all the best!
