When I first met Mary back in June of 2016 we were chatting at a Starbucks (hello….coffee…) and she was describing to me both her wedding and her fiance Ben to me. The word “preppy” was how she continued to relate to Ben and as we continued our meeting he was on his way to join us so he and I could meet. The minute he walked in the door I knew it was him immediately because of the way she so accurately described him to me. We all hit it off and I knew right then how blessed I would be to share in their big day. What struck me most about Mary and Ben was their deep love for their families and the closeness they all share. To see that played out on their wedding day was more beautiful to me than that details of the day, which as a planner, is easy to get caught up in rather than what the day is truly about. I was honored to be a part of their family that day. XOXO-Lynn
Mary and her girls got ready at her parents house, which I love, because it lent for a more relaxed and fun atmosphere where she was surrounded by those that loved her most. The look on her father’s face when he saw her for the first time in her dress as well as his own bride is priceless. And her nephew? How adorable is he? You KNOW I held that precious baby that night, he was just too cute not to!
Once family pictures at the house were finished Mary and her girls jumped in their limo for a little celebrating before heading to the church, how fun was that!
Once at the church Mary and Ben chose not to do a first look but rather read letters from each other and hold hands behind the door just to ease their nerves a bit. And Duke Chapel does not disappoint for photo opportunities!
For those fortunate to have their ceremony at the Duke Chapel you will see just how truly magnificent your ceremony will be as well as the perfect backdrop for your formal pictures after.
Once all the formal pictures at the church were finished the bridal party took the limo over to Tobacco Road for a more relaxed and fun time before heading to the reception. We just love all the great places there to get some really cool shots.
After pictures were done they all hopped back in the limo to head to the reception where family and friends were anxiously awaiting their arrival. Mary’s favorite color was purple and she was afraid her overall look and feel would end up looking like “Easter” colors because it was March but after helping her bring her design to life everything came together so beautifully with shades of lavender, grey and silver. The Cloth Mill is such a gorgeous venue with the exposed bricks, wooden wall, courtyard area and all the perfect touches that the owner Nicole made sure to add so events there would be some of the best around. From the sweetest father/daughter dance, to their Elon University alums, a friendly newlywed cake smash, non stop dancing, a s’mores station and a ribbon wand farewell, Mary and Ben certainly had their Happily Ever After that night!
